We are a fast-growing oil and gas trading group, seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and strategically minded Chief Accountant to join our team remotely. The role requires managing accounting and tax compliance across three jurisdictions: Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Key Responsibilities: 1. Multi-Jurisdiction Accounting & Reporting - Oversee daily accounting operations across entities in Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries. - Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledgers for each entity, ensuring proper segregation and consolidation where required. - Manage month-end and year-end closing processes for all three jurisdictions in accordance with local timelines and reporting requirements. 2. Financial Reporting & Compliance - Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with: - Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standards (HKFRS) - Kyrgyzstan Accounting Standards / Tax Code - Uzbekistan Accounting Standards (NAS) / IFRS as applicable - Ensure timely submission of statutory reports and tax filings (CIT, VAT, withholding tax, etc.) in each jurisdiction. - Coordinate with local auditors, tax agents, and regulatory authorities as required. 3. Tax & Regulatory Compliance - Manage corporate income tax, VAT (where applicable), and other local tax obligations across all three jurisdictions. - Ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations and cross-border transaction requirements. - Stay updated on changes in local tax laws and accounting regulations in Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. 4. Internal Controls & Process Improvement - Implement and continuously improve financial policies, procedures, and internal controls across all entities. - Analyse financial discrepancies and recommend effective resolutions. - Ensure alignment of accounting practices with group policies and multi-jurisdictional requirements. 5. Audit & External Relations - Support statutory audits for each jurisdiction: prepare audit-ready financial statements, schedules, and supporting documentation. - Follow up on audit findings and ensure timely implementation of recommendations. 6. Team Collaboration & Leadership - Provide guidance and support to other accountants and finance team members when needed. - Collaborate with the finance team to ensure seamless integration of accounting processes across jurisdictions. Key Requirements: Professional Experience - 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior accounting role. - Proven experience managing accounting for multiple jurisdictions, preferably including Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. - Experience in the oil and gas / trading industry is highly preferred. Education & Certifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business. - Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent) is strongly preferred. Technical Skills - Strong knowledge of IFRS / HKFRS and local GAAP for the three jurisdictions. - Solid understanding of Hong Kong profits tax, Kyrgyzstan tax regulations, and Uzbekistan tax regulations. - Proficient in accounting software (e.g., 1C, QuickBooks). - Advanced user of MS Excel (pivot tables, formulas, financial modelling). - Experience with multi-currency accounting and cross-border transactions. Soft Skills & Personal Attributes - High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. - Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently in a remote setting. - Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Perfectionism with the ability to balance precision and efficiency. - Ability to manage multiple priorities across different time zones and deadlines. Language Skills - English: Upper Intermediate or above (written and verbal) – working proficiency required.
