About the Employer: One of the leaders in the mining and metals industry, operating across 4 continents. Position: Commodity Manager (Procurement) Commodity Manager (Procurement) oversees centralized management of procurement activities, driving strategic sourcing and supplier relationships for consolidated requests in the copper and cobalt mining project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Location: Office in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), with occasional business trips to the project site (up to 60% of working time). Shift Schedule: Hybrid work schedule: 6 weeks working in the DRC, followed by 2 weeks working from home or any other location. Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Saturday from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Responsibilities: 1. Category Management: Gather and analyze current spend data for the assigned procurement category. Develop industry and supplier profiles, including conducting market research. Formulate and implement procurement strategies for assigned categories, covering internal process improvements, sourcing strategies, and strategic category options. Create communication and implementation plans (both internal and with suppliers) for the category. Develop and manage demand plans for categories. Ensure customer satisfaction and maintain acceptable service levels for all categories within the portfolio. 2. Procurement Process Organization: Identify and qualify suppliers according to selection criteria, and organize competitive bidding processes. Support the contracting process, including development and implementation of regulatory documents, contract negotiations, and contract signing. Manage contract amendments and supplier negotiations. Establish, maintain, and manage supplier relationships. Conduct regular review sessions with suppliers to oversee project progress, assess supplier performance, and manage risks. Handle quality and operational issues with suppliers. Ensure adherence to all agreements with external parties. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Business, Engineering, or another relevant field preferred. Additional qualifications (CIPS, APICS, MBA, PM, etc.) or equivalent professional certifications are an advantage. Minimum of 5 years of work experience in Procurement within the Mining, Petrochemical, Energy, Oil, and Gas sectors. Proven ability to negotiate with top management using diverse negotiation strategies. Proven experience in developing and successfully implementing long-term procurement strategies. Advanced level of English (C1, spoken and written); Russian fluency, with French as a plus. Experience in a large multinational organization. Experience in Africa (import/export of goods, materials, raw materials) is a plus. Experience working with foreign manufacturers. Strong analytical and negotiation skills. Demonstrated ability to make well-reasoned decisions. We Offer: Official employment under the laws of the DRC (vacation: 18 calendar days).
